State of mDLs in North Carolina

North Carolina has no specific plans in place to enact a mobile driver’s license (mDL) feature for its residents. North Carolina’s Division of Motor Vehicles is working to make mDLs a reality for the state. 11 states currently have active mDL programs, while 11 other states have announced mDL programs or are in pilot programs. So, more than half of the United States does not yet have legislation regarding mobile driver’s licenses, and North Carolina is one of them.
