Double Sided ID-Card Reader: The duplex way of reading the card ensures fast and efficient scanning that saves time with full accuracy. You don’t have to worry about orientation of the card and just drop it in. Both sides are read, compared, and validated simultaneously. 

Automated Mode: Once you got the readings, the card ejects automatically with a real-time status response with the help of color-coded LED lights.

Can the Thales CR5400 scan passports?

No. The slot to insert an ID into the Thales CR5400 is only large enough for reading standard sized (ICAO compliant), government issued IDs. This includes drivers licenses, state ID cards, and passport cards. For ID scanners capable of scanning passports, visit our passport scanner selection. 

 

Does the Thales CR5400 work offline?

The Thales CR5400 does not require internet access to scan IDs. However, the particular software you are using may require online connectivity. Both VeriScan ID Scanning & Visitor Management software, and ParseLink Data Automation software work offline. 

If you are using software other than VeriScan or ParseLink, you will need to consult your software vendor to determine offline functionality.

 

What kind of computer do I need to use the Thales CR5400?

Any computer capable of running Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10.

Yes. We are providers of VeriScan and ParseLink solutions which are compatible with the Thales CR5400. The scanner is also compatible with other software, not provided by IDScan.net. Contact your software provider to confirm compatibility and functionality.

Authentication speed is dependent on the processing power of the computer. Optimal computers paired with the Thales CR5400 can authenticate an ID in roughly 10.8 seconds.

 

How do I clean the Thales CR5400?

The Thales CR5400 can be cleaned via the white cleaning card, which is included in the package that the scanner is shipped in.

 

What is the difference between the Thales CR5400 and the CR5400i?

The CR5400i or “Intellegent” version includes a RFID capable base on which a the CR5400 is mounted to give the device the ability to connect to networks via either Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable.

 

Does the Thales CR5400 scan all US IDs?

Yes. When paired with either our VeriScan or ParseLink solutions, the scanner is capable of reading all government issued US IDs.
