Pursuant to LCB File No. R092-17 (Section 145), a marijuana establishment must verify the age of the consumer by checking a government-issued identification card containing a photograph of the consumer using an identification scanner approved by the Department to determine the validity of any government-issued identification card. The Department will approve scanners with the following features and functionality:

The Department recommends using a subscription service to ensure you always have the most recent security updates for all identification card types.
Use of an approved ID scanner is effective immediately.
The Department of Taxation stated on May 10, effective immediately, “a marijuana establishment must verify the age of the consumer by checking a government-issued identification card containing a photograph of the consumer using an identification scanner approved by the Department…” The letter went on to name IDScan.net as an approved vendor.
