This is particularly problematic due to factors like costume makeup and masks, which complicate the verification process.
Identity verification platform IDScan.net further highlights this issue, as they reviewed over a year’s worth of data, analyzing nearly a million identity scans and comparing them with 150,000 scans from Halloween week 2023. They uncovered a significant increase in fake ID usage at venues popular during this period, such as college bars, Irish pubs, and themed nightclubs.
As establishments prepare for the occasion, understanding these trends and staying alert is essential to comply with age verification laws and to maintain the safety and integrity of their operations.
