Mobile ID rollout and adoption in Delaware

Delaware offers a mobile ID through the Delaware MiD app. The app is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

While it was initially released in 2021 with 30,000+ residents downloading the app shortly after rollout, it has gained more traction in recent years as mobile IDs have become more popular.

Where can the Delaware mDL ID be used?

The Delaware mDL(mobile drivers license) is accepted at participating TSAs around the country, as well as participating businesses in the state. The state offers a quick way for businesses to join the list of companies that accept digital IDs. They also provide welcome kits and training to allow an easier transition period of business owners and their teams.

Currently law enforcement does not accept the Delaware mDL, and local establishments may or may not be aware of how to use/process the ID format. As such, it is recommended that residents continue carrying their physical ID for the time being.

How can businesses read/verify Delaware digital IDs?

VeriScan for Windows with a Tap2ID mobile ID reader is capable of reading and verifying digital IDs, including the Delaware digital ID, and storing information alongside data from scanned physical IDs and passports.
