About the CipherLab RS36

CipherLab RS36 enables retailers, bars & nightclubs, dispensaries, and others selling age-restricted products to quickly verify age without the ID changing hands.

The Android solution validates both drivers’ licenses and passports. Businesses know in an instant if the individual is underage, or if the ID is expired.

When an ID is scanned, the Veriscan checks the date of birth and expiration date, and then compares the format of the ID to IDScan.net’s library of documents. It then creates or updates a record in a database stored on the mobile device, so you can tag frequent customers or problem patrons.

FAQ’s

Can the CipherLab RS36 scan passports?

Yes. The CipherLab RS36 can read the machine readable zone (MRZ) on all global passports using the device camera, in addition to all government issued IDs and drivers licenses using an auto-focus laser.

Can the CipherLab RS36 work offline?

The CipherLab RS36 does not require internet access to scan IDs. VeriScan ID Scanning & Visitor Management software works offline, though some functionality may be limited while the device is not connected to wifi, depending on your offline scanning settings.

Do I need software for the scanner to work?

Yes. We are providers of VeriScan for Android which is compatible with the CipherLab RS36. It can be installed via Google Play. This purchase is for the device only. You will download and pay for the VeriScan subscription separately.

How is the CipherLab RS36 powered?

The CipherLab RS36 is battery powered and runs off the charge.

How long is the battery life on the CipherLab RS36?

The ICipherLab RS36 battery lasts for roughly 6-8 hours of continuous use.

Is the CipherLab RS36 waterproof?

The CipherLab RS36 has an IP-65 and IP-68 waterproof rating. This means it can withstand humidity, mist, and droplets, but should not be submerged in water.

Does the CipherLab RS36 have image capture?

The CipherLab RS36 has an auto-focus laser ID scanner attached to the top of the device. This allows for extremely rapid, accurate scanning. Scanning IDs using a personal mobile device such as an Android or iOS phone (or iPad) requires use of the device’s camera. This is much slower and not ideal for high volume scanning. Additionally, most businesses prefer to use a dedicated ID scanner for PII and privacy reasons, as it ensures no personal data is ever cached, stored, or viewed on employee devices.
