Wear your “I voted” stickers with pride – just not on your ID

As the 2024 election season heats up, with trends pointing toward record-breaking voter turnout, voters should be cautious about placing their I Voted stickers on their IDs.

I voted sticker

Voters are cautioned against placing their I Voted stickers on their IDs to ensure the ID or drivers license can be accurately read and authenticated. While some ID scanners will be able to read the barcode without issue, authentication scanners that perform authentication will flag any ID with a sticker on it as fraudulent.

ID authentication processes perform hundreds of security checks on IDs to ensure that they are legitimate. Placing a sticker anywhere on an ID document will cover security features and change the template, causing the ID to be flagged as fraudulent.

While taking pride in performing civic duty is understandable, make sure to place your sticker somewhere it will not impede identity verification.
