Mobile ID rollout and adoption in Georgia
Georgia offers mobile IDs through multiple wallets:
- Georgia ID in Apple Wallet
- Georgia ID in Google Wallet
- Georgia ID in Samsung Wallet
As of June 2023, the Georgia Department of Driver Services reported that it had onboarded over 150,000 users, but it is likely that number has drastically increased.
Where can the Georgia mobile ID be used?
The Georgia mobile ID is accepted at participating TSAs around the country.
As of July 1, 2025, Georgia drivers can use digital IDs during traffic stops. Law enforcement agencies in Georgia are required to have equipment to accept digital IDs by July 2027.
Georgians can also use their mDLs as a form of ID when purchasing age-restricted products, such as alcohol or tobacco. While businesses are not required to accept digital IDs, the Georgia DOR Alcohol and Tobacco Division has confirmed that mDLs are a valid form of identification.
Georgia residents should still carry physical IDs for certain activities, including voting and obtaining boatins and hunting licenses.
