For the first time since 2010, The Government of Yukon released a new, upgraded format of their driver’s licenses and identification cards. The new design is more aligned with North American design standards. In addition to the more standard formatting, the Yukon will now boast the most secure driver’s license and general identification cards currently available in Canada.
New features on Yukon IDs
- Produced on laser-engraved polycarbonate for increased durability and security
- Include a black and white photo of the cardholders
- Updated Yukon design elements
- Over 10 unique security features to deter fraud
Although the new Yukon ID format has been released as of late June 2024, drivers do not need to renew their current license until it expires. Yukon IDs may be renewed up to six months before their expiration date.
Will IDScan.net continue to scan Yukon IDs?
Yes. Our development team has been working closely with the Yukon government to ensure that our technology is capable of reading their new ID format, while still supporting the older format.
