Migrants in Puerto Rico get Driver’s Licenses
A new law in Puerto Rico will allow illegal migrants living in Puerto Rico to obtain a temporary driver’s license. They expect 100,000 migrants to apply for these new licenses. The license would only be available to those who have lived in Puerto Rico for at least a year and have either a passport or an embassy-issued document. The license is valid for three years and can be renewed for another three years. The provisional license also features a different design and states it cannot be used as a form of identification or for any other purpose.
