ALE:

The Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) is responsible for the enforcement of ABC Laws. They are a division of the Department of Public Safety.

As a bar owner in North Carolina, you know the importance of complying with  ALE and its unique requirements. Many of you have establishments which the ABC considers to be a private club. The North Carolina ABC rules can make ensuring compliance a time consuming and laborious process.

Some of ABC’s Requirements for North Carolina:

  • Membership Roster with all Members Names & Addresses in Alphabetical Order
  • Signed Membership Agreement in Alphabetical Order
  • Alphebatized Visitor Log
  • Member Hobbies

Bar Owners’ Challenges:

You are in a challenging position. You have to ensure that you meet the above requirements while also still focusing on training employees, ensuring your customers receive a positive and timely experience and ensuring that your staff can focus on their actual responsibilities rather than tedious labor.

Currently, many bar owners are keeping paper logs and having employees file them manually and in alphabetical order at least once a week to prepare for a possible ALE visit.  While this meets compliance, it is not efficient for operations and wastes precious time that you could dedicate toward enhanced service, marketing efforts, etc.
In an Ideal World, a North Carolina Bar Owner Would Like to be Able to:

  1. Automatically collect & store patron info and classify them as a member or guest

  2. Receive notification of when membership fees are due

  3. Have patron electronically sign membership agreement and store alphabetically for your records

  4. Print out a membership card after automatically collecting patron information

  5. Have an easily accessible and alphebatizable visitor log

Florida cracks down on human trafficking with new ID scanning policies.

Florida legislators have successfully passed House Bill 989 which should help put an end to human trafficking in Florida’s popular adult entertainment industries.  The bill calls for the immediate implementation of age verification systems in all Florida gentleman’s clubs, the prohibition of minors from working in adult theaters, and the enhancement of punitive laws against those who receive financial gain from the practice of human trafficking.

COAST or Club Owners Against Sex Trafficking has been working extensively with lawmakers and Homeland Security agents over the past few years,  and these new guidelines and policies are the result of collaboration.
