New Orleans, La. – Grocers are experiencing record sales driven by panic buying induced by the COVID-19 pandemic. Amid the acute spike in revenue, a growing threat looms: returns.

 Many consumers will try to return purchases they did not need—a financial hit grocers cannot afford. Furthermore, grocers could create exposure by placing returned, potentially contaminated goods back on their shelves.
