Man Accused of Identity Fraud with Fake ID

A man in California was caught trying to purchase a $12,000 watch using a fake ID.  Luckily, the employee was able to catch the culprit before he was able to complete his purchase.  The man faces charges of identity fraud, forgery, theft by deception and access device fraud.

DUI Checkpoint in Fairfield

There will be a DUI checkpoint today in Fairfield, California.  The exact location is undisclosed, but will take place some time between 8:30pm to 1 am.

Drivers can expect to be stopped and receive a sobriety test if they are believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  Any violation will result in an immediate arrest.  If your license is invalid, you can expect to also receive a citation or even have your vehicle impounded.

DUI Checkpoint in Bakersfield

On Friday and Saturday, the Bakersfield Police Department will be conducting DUI checkpoints.

These driver’s license checkpoints are becoming more and more frequent, especially in California.  The goal is to reduce the amount of drunk driving incidents on the roads.  The DUI checkpoints have proved to be a good use of funds for police departments and greatly reduce the risk of driving-impaired accidents.

Funding for these checkpoints are provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

According to the Martinez Gazette, the Martin Police Department will be conducting a DUI checkpoint today at an undisclosed location between the hours of 7pm and 2:30am.

These types of checkpoints are becoming more and more prevalent across the US.  They have been proven to be an effective way of limiting the number of drug-related car crashes and injuries.  According to national statistics, impaired drivers killed almost 10,000 people last year.

If stopped, expect to have your driver’s license checked.  You may be asked to conduct a sobriety test if they suspect you of driving under the influence.

DUI checkpoints continue to be a valuable process being conducted by more and more departments across the country.  They are cost effective, a strong deterrent for drunk drivers, and help keep people safe.

DUI Checkpoints This Friday

The Corona Police Department will be conducting DUI checkpoints this Friday at an undisclosed location.  The checkpoints will occur from 9pm to 3am.

According to local police officers, these sobriety checkpoints will be conducted more routinely to help prevent alcohol or drug involved crashes.  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), checkpoints have been provided the most effective means of DUI enforcement.  The checkpoints have been proven to reduce the number of people killed and injured in crashes by 20%.

DUI checkpoints have also received extensive support by California drivers.  About 90% approve of these checkpoints.  The DUI checkpoints will specifically target locations that have high collision statistics and DUI arrests.

Driver’s License Renewal Change in Hawaii

Beginning on THursday, Hawaii residents must show two documents that prove their residency in order to obtain a Hawaii driver’s license or state ID card.

The documents must include the applicant’s name, address, and proof of residency.  Eligible documents include their current driver’s license, vehicle registration or title, voter registration card, or other mail from a government or medical entity.  These documents must be recent and cannot be more than two years old.  Other options include a utility bill, a checking or savings account statement, and a payroll check or stub.

This changes are an attempt by Hawaii to be more compliant with the Real ID Act of 2005.  The fee for a state ID on Kauai will also increase from $4 to $32 and will be valid for up to 8 years.

Alert – Alabama driver’s license system offline will be offline in late April

As forewarning, the driver’s license renewal system in Alabama will down for a few days in late April.  The Alabama Department of Public Safety will be converting their databases so comply with federal regulations, which means all online services will be down from Friday, April 25 at 5pm until 8 am on Wednesday, April 30.
