State of digital IDs in Ohio

Ohio, as of May 2023, does not currently have a mobile driver’s license available to its residents. Apple is making its mark in the mobile identification realm in which users can add their digital ID to their Apple Wallet, making it easily accessible. States already participating in the mobile driver’s license program with Apple include Arizona, Maryland, and Colorado. Ohio is committed to implementing this feature, but it is unclear when the feature will be supported in the state.

Arizonans can currently use their mobile ID in the Apple Wallet to go through airport security at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It is unclear currently whether or not this mobile ID feature would be allowed in the Ohio airport. More information will hopefully soon be released on when this mobile driver’s license feature will be available for the residents of Ohio.
