Over the course of the last year IDScan.net has worked with the City of Chattanooga to develop a technology that would help them automate dumping at their three refuse disposal sites.

The Results:

One result was a transaction time that was 20 times faster than the previous one! What used to take a minute to process now takes 3 seconds. The other result? They decreased the tonnage and disposal cost for each center.

How it Works:

When a resident scans their ID, IDScan.net’s mobile ID scanning system checks the ID against the Chattanooga database to determine whether the ID is a) within the City of Chattanooga Limits and; b) how many times the resident has deposited refuse at the center that year.

The City of Chattanooga’s personnel then receives a pop up on the mobile device with the corresponding information. If the resident is not within the limits, they are turned away. It has also helped Chattanooga more strictly enforce their policy to allow up to disposing 12 times per rolling year.
